Click here for further details about playing online » | The Offaly Hurling squad are promoting the The Offaly GAA & Clubs 10k run and 5 k walk The Offaly GAA 10km road race / fun run and 5km walk will take place on Sunday May 27th at 11:30am from O’Connor Park Tullamore at 12 noon, and the county board are encouraging everybody to come out and take up the challenge or just come out and enjoy it as a jog or leisurely walk. Either way you will be helping Offaly GAA Clubs to raise funds for themselves through sponsorship cards and they also have the chance to win Lotto membership by entering a team of 5 in the run. The best combined time total will be the winning club. All the clubs have to do is encourage people who walk, jog or run to sign up and pay the registration fee of €20 to Offaly GAA, and monies collected outside of that will be for the club. This is an excellent opportunity for the club to maximise a fund-raising initiative and at the same time help Offaly GAA and two very worthy charities. Course / Route details The 10K fun run or race is AAI approved and measured by Adrian Curley of Tullamore Harriers The course starts down Clontarf Road and proceeds up towards Kilbeggan Bridge turning left going pass O Connor Park and down to Scally’s Centra, turning left and straight through Clara roundabout and up the Srah Road to the Clara bridge beside Colton’s turning left and then immediate right into Arden View. Through Arden View and at exit turn left and back down to Scally’s Centra, left again and this time at the Clara roundabout turn left and back into town to Mahon’s Gala, andleft again into Arden View. Through Arden View again, but upon exit this time turn right and back to O Connor Park to finish at the wooden gates at the stand. This is a nice flat 10K with a 6.5 K loop, followed by a 3.5K loop to finish. There will water stations at 3.5K, 6.5K and at the finish. With 43 GAA clubs in Offaly, we are hoping that there will be a very big turn out on the day, and also as the race is AAI approved we hope that we will have some top athletes from Tullamore Harriers and the nearby athletics club as we did last year when Noel Kelly recorded 34:13. There are individual prizes for men and women for first second and third. First prize for both men and women is €125, Second prize is €75 and third prize is €50. All and will receive refreshments afterwards. There will be facilities for car parking, showers and toilets. Entry fee on line is €20 through www.offalygaa.ie or late entry of €25 on the day from 10am.
