Into The Knock-Out Stages In Offaly Football Championships

Reigning champions Tullamore and 2021 champions Rhode are through to the semi-finals of the Tullamore Court Hotel Offaly Senior Football Championship.

Both clubs have 100% records after their three group games and will now have the comfort of waiting to find out their opponents in the penultimate round. Tullamore maintained their impressive form with a big win over Cappincur on Sunday, while Rhode were pushed hard by Clara before securing another victory. Elsewhere, Edenderry defeated Durrow while Ferbane overcame Shamrocks.

The results mean that the quarter-finals will be Edenderry v Shamrocks & Ferbane v Clara. The relegation play-off will be contested by Cappincur and Durrow.

In the Tullamore Court Hotel Offaly Senior ‘B’ Football Championship, local rivals Bracknagh and Clonbullogue (last year’s Intermediate champions) have progressed directly to the semi-finals. In this grade, the quarter-finals are Walsh Island v Ballycumber; Gracefield v Tubber.

In the Intermediate Football Championship, last year’s beaten finalists Raheen are going strong, as are Ballycommon, and they occupy the two semi-final berths. In the quarter-finals are St Brigid’s v Ferbane and Daingean v Tullamore.

Then, in the Junior A Football Championship, the two form teams at present are Ballinagar and Kilcormac-Killoughey. They now have the luxury of going straight through to the semi-finals, while the quarter-final pairings are Rhode v Kilclonfert; Edendery v Tullamore.

There are still some group games to take place in the Junior ‘B’ and Junior ‘C’ Football Championships.

These are the main results from the weekend (tables are available on the Fixtures & Results section of this website):

SFC – Tullamore 2-14 Cappincur 0-6; Rhode 2-13 Clara 0-15; Edenderry 1-16 Durrow 0-08; Ferbane 3-14 Shamrocks 3-11.
