Path Cleared For SHC Semi-Finals
The way has now been cleared for the semi-finals of the Molloy Environmental Systems Offaly Senior Hurling Championship.
Following the draw on Sunday evening (with the group winners were kept apart), the penultimate round games are: Kilcormac-Killoughey v Coolderry; Ballinamere v St Rynagh’s.
With K-K and Ballinamere already through to the semi-finals, they were joined on Saturday evening by St Rynagh’s who defeated Birr by 0-20 to 0-17 in Glenisk O’Connor Park. Luke O’Connor top-scored for the Banagher men, with 0-11 (6 frees).
On Sunday, Coolderry knocked out Shinrone at Grant Heating St Brendan’s Park after a thrilling game, which resulted in a scoreline of 3-20 to 2017, with their goals scored by Kevin Connolly, Andrew Connolly and Gearoid McCormack. Goalkeeper, Stephen Corcoran was actually their top-scorer with 0-6 (5 frees, 1 ’65’).
In the Senior ‘B’ semi-finals, Clodiagh Gaels defeated Carrig & Riverstown by 2-15 to 0-15, while Kilcormac-Killoughey beat Lusmagh 0-29 t0 2-18 (after extra-time). This sets the scene for a repeat of last year’s final, which K-K won.
Elsewhere, Drumcullen defeated St Rynagh’s in the Intermediate Hurling Championship semi-final, to set up a meeting with Coolderry. It was an enjoyable weekend for Drumcullen, as they also won the Molloy Environmental Systems Junior C Championship final with a 3-11 to 1-6 victory over Ballyskenach-Killavilla.
The Molloy Environmental Systems Junior B Hurling Championship final was also played on Sunday, resulting in a 1-15 to 0-15 win for Carrig & Riverstown over Kilcormac-Killoughey.
