Junior titles for Ferbane and Clonbullogue – Clara win Minor B and Ferbane/Belmont and St Broughan’s must meet again
2,240 spectators turned up in O’Connor Pk to see Ferbane and Clonbullogue win the Junior A & C Football finals on Sunday, while on Saturday 1,430 saw Clara win the Minor B Football final, while Ferbane and St Broughan’s must do it all again after finishing all square after extra time in the Minor A Football Final replay
Junior A Football Final
Ferbane 2-8 Kilclonfert 1-10
After trailing 1-5 to 0-1 at half time and by 1-8 to 0-3 with 15 minutes left, Ferbane put in a magnificent last quarter to snatch victory at the death thanks to a Ronan McGuire goal in the 61st minute. The introduction of Colin Kenny mid-way through the second half was instrumental in Ferbane winning their 5th Junior title and first since 1995. Kenny contributed four marvellous points and set up the move that resulted in McGuire’s late goal.

Clonbullogue 1-7 Cappincur 0-7
A goal two from Paddy Quinn two minutes into the second half proved decisive as Clonbullogue regained the Junior C title they last won in 2013. The sides were level at 0-4 each, but after Quinn goaled there was no way back for last year’s beaten finalists.

Ferbane/Belmont 0-16 St Broughan’s 2-10
Ferbane/Belmont and St Broughan’s will have to do it all over again as they played out an enthralling draw after extra time in this replayed Minor A final. The sides were level F/B 0-7 St Broughan’s 1-4, at the end of normal time it was 0-12 to 1-9. When St Broughan’s edged 2-10 to 0-14 in front at the end of the first period of extra time, it looked as though they might hold out for their first minor title, however, F/B managed to snatch a draw and the final goes to a second replay

Clara laid the foundation for this success in the opening half as they led by 2-7 to 1-1 at the break. They added three further second half goals to run out comfortable 13 point winners.
